Kiefer Sutherland isn't quite done with 24 and says he'd be willing to reprise the role of Jack Bauer if the conditions were right. The series, which premiered on Fox in November 2001, is an action-thriller where each season presents 24 episodes meant to take place in real-time over one single day. The lead character, played by Sutherland, is Jack Bauer, who works for the U.S. Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles. Every season, also called a «Day,» depicts another action-packed 24-hour period where Bauer and his team must race to stop a new terrorist plot from unfolding. Although 24has aged poorly in many ways, it was an incredibly popular series at the time, peaking as the 20th highest-rated series in 2009.
Although 24 ended its original run with Day 8 in 2010, the legacy of the series has continued over the years. In addition to a 2011 Indian adaptation starring Anil Kapoor and a 2020 Japanese series starring Toshiaki Karasawa, the show would also spawn 24: Live Another Day in 2014, a limited 12-episodes series that featured Sutherland's return and a 12-hour time jump in the finale to make sure the story covered a full day's events. In 2017, that was followed by 24: Legacy, a show that was executive produced by Sutherland but does not feature Jack Bauer, instead following Corey Hawkins as Eric Carter, an ex-Ranger who enlists the help of CTU when he is being hunted down by terrorists.
