Xiaomi has finally taken the wraps off its latest mobile OS, the MIUI 14. At an event held in China on Sunday, Xiaomi made MIUI 14 official, alongside the launch of its flagship Xiaomi 13 series. This latest OS brings visual changes and improved features based on the Android 13 platform. Xiaomi claims the MIUI 14 is lighter yet more powerful than the previous generation. According to Xiaomi, the new MIUI focuses on more space-saving operations while completing tasks at a much faster rate. In fact, it is considerably lighter than the MIUI 13, while being more powerful. Enhancements have been made at the kernel level which has resulted in up to 60% increase in fluency, thanks to the new MIUI photon engine.
Moreover, the number of uninstallable apps has been cut down to just 8, which could free up nearly 1.5GB of storage space on the smartphone.
Although there has been no major overhaul in terms of design, subtle changes have been made to improve the user experience. Users can change icon sizes, set home screen folders, new widgets and more. Additionally, new interactive objects like plants and pets can be set on the home screen as widgets.
MIUI 14 has smart AI features which enhance your smartphone usage. The smart AI can now extract text from images, image recognition, provide subtitles on video calls and more. The AI voice assistant has also received notable improvements which can be used to filter spam calls, scan important documents and translate for you with simple commands.
