The team over at Xbox is hard at work creating the best possible user experience for players and fans around the world. And in that vein, the May 2022 Xbox console update promises to enhance the user experience further.
Xbox releases a monthly console update, normally within the first ten days of the month, packed with little upgrades and tweaks to things like user interface, button remapping options, live streaming settings, etc. Players usually have a lot of small requests and complaints about these user experience-related things, and Xbox tries to update the system software each month to keep up.
Rumor: Almost Every Xbox Studio Has Something to Present for the June 2022 Showcase
So, in the month of May, Xbox is promising two major updates, one for the Xbox mobile app and one for the console itself. The former will allow users to create, share, and view stories with the Xbox app on Android and iOS, which is a «stories» system similar to social networking apps like Snapchat and Instagram. The latter is Quality of Service (QoS) tagging — «a new service for Xbox consoles and sets priority tags on latency-sensitive outbound networking traffic such as party chat, console streaming, and multiplayer (in supported games).»
On the home screen of the Xbox app, players can select the Stories channel and click the "+" to add screenshots, clips, or achievements to share with their friends, and there is even a function to add captions. Also, an activity feed shows posts from the last 72 hours, allowing players to stay connected and share gameplay and achievements with friends for days. As for the QoS tagging, players can enjoy a gaming experience that is protected from connection issues during high-traffic times on supported networks.
