The Xbox Rewards app may be closing down, according to an alleged screenshot from a Brazilian user.
As shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Xbox news reporterIdle Sloth, a Brazilian player claims to have opened the Xbox Rewards app and received a message explaining that the app will be shutting down.
According to the alleged message, the app will be replaced by a Rewards Hub which will enable players to earn and redeem Rewards points without having to load a separate app to do so.
“We’ve recreated, simplified and integrated the Rewards experience on Xbox, making it revolve around the gameplay and activities that gamers love the most,” the alleged message reads.
“With the new Rewards hub on Xbox, players will no longer need to have separate apps to earn or redeem Rewards points on Xbox. As of December 2023, we will no longer publish offers in the Microsoft Rewards app on Xbox, and will instead focus on new activities in the new Rewards hub.
“This change is intended to simplify and streamline the Rewards experience for players and help them access all Xbox-related offers and activities in one convenient place. The weekly series will continue until the end of November, after which it will be deactivated in the app.
“Rewards with Xbox will remain part of the Microsoft Rewards programme, and any points you earn on Xbox will continue to be associated with points from the other parts of the programme.”
VGC has yet to be able to replicate the message, so it’s not yet clear if it was accidentally accessed early, assuming it’s legitimate.
The Xbox Rewards app lets players earn points which can be used on a variety of rewards, including one-month Game Pass Ultimate memberships and Xbox Store gift cards.
