There's been a lot of horror talk in the world of gaming lately. With rumors of a Silent Hill 2 remake in the works by The Medium developer Bloober Team, as well as a number of other entries in the dormant psychological horror series, it feels like an unusual time of the year to be knee-deep in discussions about the genre. However, there are additional horror topics currently on the grapevine, as the anticipated indie title Scorn by Ebb Software is said to still be on track for release this year.
In response to a user on Twitter, the official Scorn account has said that the game should still make its intended October 2022 launch. Ebb originally made the announcement way back in 2014, so it's been in development for several years at this point. It was considered one of the most anticipated horror games of 2021, up there with the likes of Back 4 Blood, Dying Light 2, and Resident Evil Village. This small reply on Twitter should give fans hope that the studio will be able to meet its deadline, especially given that October is a prime time for horror releases.
Scorn Gets New Release Date for Xbox Series X and PC
After such a long time in development, Ebb Software was originally due to release the game in August 2021. However, Scorn was pushed back to 2022, adding at least another year that fans would have to wait. By that point, many in the community were beginning to grow impatient. Teaser footage had been doing the rounds, whetting people's appetites. There was some controversy after the delay was announced, with the studio posting a «hostile» message on its Kickstarter page stating that anyone unhappy with the delay could request their funds back, adding that it was «just a game.»
Not long after this, Ebb Software apologized
