Fans consistently rank Wolverine's adamantium claws as some of the strongest weapons in the Marvel Universe, but Wolverine has actually had an even stronger weapon capable of destroying a planet. Fans got to see Logan wield this weapon in the 2010 six issue miniseries Astonishing Spider-Man/Wolverine. The series was written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Adam Kubert.
The series gets crazy right from the start as Spider-Man and Wolverine are trapped in in the past during the time of cavemen. They are only able to escape after a world-ending asteroid crashes into the planet and propels them to an alternate time-warped present. In this present, Doctor Doom sought immortality by uploading his mind to the only thing large enough to contain his ego. Coincidentally, that happened to be Ego the Living Planet. This Living Planet Doom arrives to Earth seeking to devour it like Galactus and dispatches a series of Doombot-like heralds to prepare it for him.

During this time, a crew working for Spider-Man uncovers an old stash of X-Men related items. In these items is a small box with the Phoenix Force logo. Peter is initially fearful, but when he opens it up he discovers a gun and a single bullet containing all the power of the Phoenix Force inside it. Peter hopes to use the gun on the Living Planet Doom, knowing that whomever fires it will not be able to withstand its power and die. In typical Wolverine fashion, Logan knocks Peter out, takes the gun for himself, and uses it to destroy the Doom Planet, killing himself in the process.
