Warning! Spoilers for Wolverine: Patch #1ahead!
While several of Marvel Comics' X-Men are well-known icons, none are as beloved as the legendary Wolverine. Stacked with a healing factor and adamantium claws, Logan is one of the most unkillable mutants on Earth-616. However, most fans don't know that Wolverine secretly wishes he had one more power.
Larry Hama and Andrea Di Vito's newest issue of Wolverine: Patch #1 sets up a premise fit for old and new Logan enthusiasts. The story brings fans to a time set before Hama's original Wolverine comics from the 1980s, where Logan disguises himself as his Patch alter-ego and returns to Madripoor. Several other surprise characters make a comeback too. Even the original version of Nick Fury gets a traditional shouting session with Patch before boarding an aircraft for his mission.

As soon as Patch is over Madripoor, he makes a fateful leap off his plane (without a parachute to stay off of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sensors) and begins his espionage mission. When he completely dislocates his arm upon hitting the ground and is forced to rearrange it, Logan reveals something even longtime fans may not know. He states: «This ol' mutant healing factor could sure do with a 'feel no pain' factor, but hey — it all makes us stronger, right?» While the line seems like a quick nod at Wolverine's healing factor and unbreakable adamantium bones, it reveals that Logan is tired of all the pain inflicted upon him. He shows masterful skill at fixing his body when it moves in a way it's not supposed to, but it seems he would rather not feel pain at all than relocate another set of bones in his arm.
