The Illuminati make their first live-action appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but will they return to the MCU anytime soon? Formed in the comics just after the Kree-Skrull War, the group originally comprised Professor X/Charles Xavier, Tony Stark/Iron Man, Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Namor: The Sub-Mariner, Black Bolt, and Doctor Strange. Since their initial introduction in the comics, the roster has changed significantly, with varying members dipping in and out of the organization, including Black Panther, Captain America, Medusa, Hulk, and Beast, amongst others.
In Doctor Strange 2, the Illuminati are introduced on Earth 838 and comprises Professor X, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Baron Mordo, Captain Carter (Peggy Carter), and Captain Marvel (Maria Rambeau). The group confronts Doctor Strange from Earth 616, where it's revealed that their Doctor Strange had been corrupted, becoming a villain (who was summarily executed by Black Bolt). It's the first time that Doctor Strange is made aware of the group, as he has yet to join The Illuminati in his reality, let alone know of its existence.

After the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's entirely possible that Strange could be the one to start The Illuminati on Earth 616, now that he's aware of its existence and perhaps sees the potential in what a group like that could do for his world.
