The massive and awe-inspiring World Serpent from God of War (2018) was recently replaced with Thomas the Tank Engine in a surprisingly creepy mod. Sony Santa Monica’s critically acclaimed reboot of the God of War series was ported to the PC back in January, opening the door for talented modders to alter Kratos’ recent trek through the Nine Realms of Asgard in a variety of interesting ways. Some aim for funny crossovers with other games, such as the God of War mod that pitted Kratos against Master Chief, but some don’t necessarily have to remain in the realm of gaming either, as modders have also reskinned Kratos and his son Atreus as Homer and Bart Simpson of The Simpsons fame.

The father-son duo encounters a wide range of memorable characters on this journey, with one of the most noteworthy being Jörmungandr, the gigantic World Serpent that dwells within the Lake of Nine after a battle with God of War’s villainous version of Thor. Kratos and Atreus call upon this fearsome-yet-largely-benevolent beast to help guide them to Jötunheim, and the World Serpent becomes a valued ally of the pair after Mimir reassures it that they aren’t allied with the Norse Gods that Jörmungandr still despises with a fierce passion. Eventually, Atreus learns to speak to the World Serpent in its ancient tongue, which comes in handy during a battle against the undead Frost Giant Thamur.
