Warning! SPOILERS ahead for Thor: Love and Thunder.
Natalie Portman's Jane Foster returns in Thor: Love and Thunder as the Mjolnir-wielding hero Mighty Thor, and she not only shakes up Asgard but breaks a golden rule of Valhalla. Continuing the tonal shift established byThor: Raganarok and picking up with Thor post-Avengers: Endgame, Thor: Love and Thunder finds its titular god (Chris Hemsworth) setting off on an adventure to stop Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) from killing all gods. He's joined by Korg (Taika Waititi), King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), and Jane as Mighty Thor.
Jane Foster's last MCU appearance came in Thor: The Dark World. In that second Thor solo outing, she's infected with an Infinity Stone and needs to travel to Asgard to be rid of it. While there, she learns more about the Asgardians, their technology, history, and customs. This includes Valhalla, the paradise afterlife with which Asgardian warriors are rewarded. In Thor: Love and Thunder, it's further explained that only those Asgardians who die in battle can enter Valhalla, clearly setting up the rules that dictate entry. And yet, Jane manages to circumvent those rules when she dies at the end of the film and is welcomed to Valhalla by Heimdall (Idris Elba) in Thor: Love and Thunder's post-credits scene.
