Why Stephen King Was Afraid To Watch Stranger Things Season 4 Finale

Acclaimed writer Stephen King shared his hesitation towards watching the Stranger Things season 4 finale. With seemingly never-ending adaptations on the horizon, including the upcoming Salem's Lot, which is set for release this fall, as well as a remake of Christine, King continues to establish his legacy as one of horror's biggest names. The most recently confirmed adaptation will see King's novel, The Talisman adapted for the small screen, with Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers at the helm.
Debuting back in 2016, Stranger Things has maintained its intense grip on audiences throughout each new season. Audiences are still reeling from the devastating fallout of season 4's epic conclusion as Vecna finally unleashed the Upside Down on Hawkins, with a release date for season 5 yet to be confirmed. Stranger Things season 4's final two episodes brought a number of horrifying revelations and shocking deaths, and broke multiple of records for Netflix. However, many viewers (including King) were unhappy with Stranger Things season 4's two-part release in May and July, which the author took to Twitter to complain about after volume 1 ended. Now, the master of horror has shared why he was then scared going into volume 2.

In a recent tweet, King shared his brief thoughts about Stranger Things season 4, episode 8, calling it "full of dread." The writer admitted that he was hesitant to continue on to the final episode, as he was fearful of what lay ahead for the Hawkins gang. Check out King's tweet below.
