Yet despite these mammoth engagement numbers, there are over 58,000 comments on The Rings of Power video that all say the same thing as an act of defiance against Amazon's The Lord of the Rings vision.
Set for a September 2nd, 2022 release date, The Rings of Power focuses primarily on the Second Age of Middle Earth, over 2,500 years before Frodo (Elijah Wood) and the Fellowship set off on their perilous quest from Rivendell. The Rings of Power teaser trailer grants audiences a first look at many of the Second Age's key locations, including the seafaring kingdom of Númenor, the grinding ice wastes of Helcaraxë, and the great Dwarven halls of Khazad-dûm. Furthermore, the teaser showcases several brand new characters for the series, such as Disa (Sophia Nomvete), the Dwarven princess, while also reimagining classic The Lord of the Rings characters such as Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) in their younger years.
