The MCU replacement for Iron Man's character needs to flip a classic Phase One line. Since his first solo film back in 2008, Tony Stark starred in a total of nine total Marvel movies while acting as the de-facto face of the MCU. The wealthy and sarcastic genius changed the world of superhero movies when he proudly proclaimed, "I am Iron Man," revealing his superhero identity to the world instead of relying on alter egos to hide who he was. Years later, Tony repeated his iconic line one final time before his emotional sacrifice at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
Tony Stark's death has left a void in the franchise, and many rising heroes have since been compared to him as viewers debate who can best carry on his legacy. Although characters like Tom Holland's Spider-Man have certainly honored the fallen Stark, Riri Williams looks to be the first obvious Iron Man replacement. Riri made her 2016 debut in Marvel comics by designing her own suit of armor and will be introduced into the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before appearing in her own Disney+ series Ironheart. Regardless of whether the MCU ultimately frames her as the next Iron Man or not, the best way to do so is by flipping some of Tony's final words.

Saying "I am not Iron Man," instead of simply repeating Tony Stark's original line would theoretically have much more of a punch and better signify what kind of replacement this MCU next Iron Man will be. Reworking the iconic Iron Man phrase would also show that the character isn’t made explicitly to replace Tony but rather to build on his legacy by emphasizing his impact on future generations of heroes.
