Unfortunately for fans of Nintendo's Xenoblade Chronicles 3, scalpers are snatching up pre-orders for the special edition of the role-playing action game. Excitement for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has only increased with the announcement of a new special edition. The bundle promises a steel book case, an oversized box covered with special art, and a hardcover art book alongside a copy of the game. However, pre-ordering a special edition is proving difficult for many fans of the series.
The current set of pre-orders for Xenoblade Chronicle 3's special edition is not the first batch that has been made available for purchase online. Nintendo announced and released the first round in early June, with fans flooding in to snag a copy, ultimately causing the website to crash. The rush was prompted by a tweet from the official Nintendo of America Twitter account announcing the launch, quickly overloading servers and causing many to receive an error stating the website was at capacity. While many were hopeful they would have more success during the second wave of pre-orders, that hasn't been the case.

As reported by The Gamer, scalpers have taken advantage of the game's popularity, buying up a good portion of the pre-orders and listing them for a severely inflated price on eBay. Several scalpers are now selling their special edition copies on eBay for up to $350, almost four times the original price. Unlike the first wave, the second round of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 special edition preorders was restricted, only allowing customers to purchase one bundle per person, but the change has done little to slow down the rate of sales.
