Why Apple Might Discontinue iPhone 11 After iPhone 14 Launch
Following the launch of the iPhone 14 in September, Apple might discontinue one of its most popular iPhone models, the iPhone 11. At the moment, the iPhone 11 is the oldest model that's available to purchase on Apple's website. While the standard iPhone numbered models remain on sale years after their launch, the Pro variants are discontinued sooner. The iPhone 11 Pro and the more recent iPhone 12 Pro are no longer available to buy through the official Apple website.
The iPhone 11 comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina IPS display. Under the hood, the smartphone features Apple's A13 Bionic chipset, seen on newer devices such as the iPad (9th Generation) and Apple Studio Display. While Apple launched the iPhone 11 with iOS 13, it is upgradable to the latest iOS 15.4.1. At its price, the iPhone 11 provides a versatile camera setup that can shoot wide-angle shots and high-quality videos.

According to a recent iDropNews report, Apple might discontinue the iPhone 11 after launching iPhone 14 later this year. The report notes that Apple tends to discontinue iPhones after they complete a three-year production cycle. For example, the iPhone 7 was launched in 2016 and discontinued by the company in 2019. Apple stopped manufacturing the iPhone 8 in April 2020, roughly three years after its launch in September 2017. The iPhone XR was launched in 2018 and discontinued in 2021. Given that the iPhone 11 was introduced in 2019, it seems likely that Apple will take it off the shelves in 2022.
