After vanquishing the final Nightmare in Destiny 2's Nightmare Containment, the activity will go into lockdown and unlock two random doors. Accessing the door panels will reveal two treasure chests, which can be opened for extra loot. There are five unlockable doors scattered around the Derelict Leviathan's Castellum. Players will only have two minutes to locate and open the chests before the Public Event begins again.
Season of the Haunted has brought many new changes to the game, most notably the return of the Leviathan. Calus has infested the ship with an army of Nightmares. Some old enemies have been resurrected by the Emperor in this manner, such as Qalec, the Sniper in Destiny 2. The main seasonal activity is called Nightmare Containment and serves as a way for Guardians to bind powerful Nightmares. This Public Event is reminiscent of the old Mars Warmind event because both can be completed endlessly.

To start the Nightmare Containment, Guardians must head to the Derelict Leviathan. From the Destination tab in the menu, select the Castellum Landing Zone, and choose Containment. This mode is primarily for players looking to participate in the Public Event, and the process will be faster with more Guardians. The event has three tiers and begins whenever a Nightmare Harvester is placed down in a specified location. The first two parts of the activity will have players defeat waves of enemies. The third tier spawns one of three specific powerful Nightmares, rotating each week. Upon completion, a chest is rewarded. In addition, 500 Vestiges of Dread can also be expended at the relic for more gear in Destiny 2.
