After escaping the excavation site of The Hole, the Arisen will meet Ulrika in the village of Melve. is home to many villages, yet Melve is unique in being the place where everything starts. Here is where the Arisen loses their heart to the Dragon after sacrificing themselves for Ulrika, and where The Warden nurses the player character's wounds. It is also where one receives this information through a flashback, informing them of how their status of becoming the Arisen came to be.

Ulrika is an NPC that is romanceable, with a string of quests which she is tied to: «Readvent of Calamity,» «Home Is Where the Hearth Is,» and «Trouble on the Cape.» Although she resides in Melve, defending its people with her bow, she will eventually leave as the quests progress. It should be noted that her quests can easily be missed, as she has no quest tracker once she vanishes, and «Readvent of Calamity,» the quest to start Ulrika's story, will no longer be playable if certain hidden triggers are missed.
Ulrika helps her people in two dragon attacks; however, the latter attack is caused by a Lesser Dragon and results in equally lesser desolation. Although not his biological child, Lennart, Melve's fighter meister, considers her to be something of a daughter to him and the young archer seems to take after her guardian a great deal, becoming Melve's leader.
Ulrika acts as her village's guardian, aiding in its defense.
If a player continues the «Redavent of Calamity» quest, Ulrika will be accused of treason by a corrupt official. The next morning, the archer will have escaped the village, and Lennart informs Arisen of this. There are no clues as to where she went, nor is there a marker to follow in order to complete the quest. At first, it seems she could be anywhere in grand world. Strangely enough, however, the route to finding Ulkira again requires a seemingly unrelated questline.
