It’s just been a week from when WhatsApp officially announced it will be rolling out major changes to its app. From WhatsApp Communities to Emoji reactions, Admin access to delete problematic messages, bigger file sharing, all were highlighted in the announcement . One of these big changes was the announcement to allow WhatsApp users to add up to 32 contacts on a single audio call. And now, it is reported that the Meta-owned messaging app might have already started rolling out a new stable version for iPhone users to bring up to 32 users on an audio call at a single time. Though, users in only select countries have started receiving the new update.
This will be a big change for WhatsApp users as earlier only eight participants were allowed at a time in an audio call. But things now seem to have changed! This means now iPhone users can add up to four times more participants than earlier! It is possible through WhatsApp groups. A screenshot has surfaced online showing that reads, “Group calls now support 32 participants and includes an updated interface with a social audio layout, speaker highlight and waveforms.”
As the number of participants increased in an audio call, the layout of the Group video call also got a new look. The report showed how the call participants will be shown on the screen. It suggests that every WhatsApp user in the group call will be labelled using waveform images. The new update is available for iPhone users with a new version of WhatsApp 22.8.80, the report suggested.
