Google Chrome Update: About 30 security flaws have been dealt with in the latest update to Chrome and Chromium. Other engines also use the underlying open-source codebase like Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera Browser. Google has not released many details about the flaws to ensure a majority of the users have received the update before it is released so that hackers don't learn about them too. A handful of these flaws have been marked as "High" risk and required urgent fixing.
The Google Chrome update has been labeled as 101.0.0951.41 and it deals with some very serious issues. One of the most important among the fixes resolves a high-severity use-after-free issue in the 3D graphics and computing open standard Vulkan. The Google Chrome bug was reported by SeongHwan Park. For her efforts she was rewarded with a $10,000 bug bounty payout by Google.
There were six other high-risk bugs in the Google Chrome which affected SwiftShader 3D renderer, the Angle WebGL backend, the Device API, and the Sharing component. Google has stated that it has paid between $5,000 - 7,000 in bug bounty for each of these six bug reports.
The update 101.0.0951.41 is being rolled out, and there's a good chance you have already got it unless you have switched off automatic updates.
