Twitter is undergoing some major changes ever since news of the Elon Musk acquisition broke out. The edit button is under testing and is going to be the biggest addition to the microblogging site ever since its inception. However, there’s another new feature coming to Twitter that could change the way you make tweets. It is called Twitter Circle and is kind of like the Instagram Stories Closed Friends feature. This feature is under testing though.
Twitter Circle is vastly different from Twitter Communities and it also much different from the protected account feature. Circle will let you tweet to a small group of 150 people. These 150 people can only see the tweet and interact with it but they cannot retweet it in their circles. Circle also takes away the control from whether you want to be a part of the Circle.
If someone adds you to their Twitter Circle, you cannot remove yourself from the Circle. At most, you can mute yourself from that Circle but you will still be shown as part of the Twitter Circle.
“Twitter Circle is a way to send Tweets to select people, and share your thoughts with a smaller crowd. You choose who’s in your Twitter Circle, and only the individuals you’ve added can reply to and interact with the Tweets you share in the Circle,” describes Twitter.
“With Twitter Circle you choose your audience each time you compose a Tweet. You’ll have the option to send one Tweet to your Circle and the next to all your followers,” says Twitter.
Note that every uses can only have one Twitter Circle. Moreover, you can choose at the time of tweeting whom you can send the tweet to. You can select individual users on your Twitter friend list, or you can choose to send to “everyone”.
