If you prefer to travel on Indian Railways and book your travel tickets through the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), then this is important news for you. Online IRCTC ticket booking rules have been changed. IRCTC has introduced a new set of rules for online booking of train tickets. The corporation has made it mandatory to verify your mobile number and e-mail id prior to booking of your railway tickets. Without verification, online bookings of train tickets will not be possible for passengers.
The verification process is very easy and simple. You can do this from the comfort of your own home. You can do so through the online portal of IRCTC and create a login ID and password. You will be able to log in only after your mobile number and email ID are verified. Here’s all you need to know about the new online IRCTC ticket booking rules.
According to the IRCTC, the new rule is applicable to the passengers who haven’t booked tickets for a couple of years because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Such passengers will now have to verify their mobile number and e-mail ID.
1. Begin with logging in to your IRCTC portal or IRCTC mobile app
2. Go to the verification window and enter your already registered mobile number and email ID.
3. You will see a verification option on the right and an editing option on the left. If you want to change the registered number and email ID, tap on the editing option, or else, simply tap on the verification tab.
4. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter that to complete the verification.
5. The process is similar for the email ID verification. Once you’re done with the verification, proceed to book an online train ticket.
