WhatsApp is evolving at a very fast pace and it now seems it wants to be more like Facebook in the coming days. We have already seen WhatsApp borrow some popular features form the Facebook Messenger app, and now, it is wanting copy another feature from Facebook itself that has been around for years. WhatsApp users will now be able to see cover photos as background for their profile photos — the layout will be largely similar to the cover photos we see on Facebook.
Noted first by WABetaInfo, it has been found that WhatsApp is wanting to bring the cover photo feature to its users. There is no idea behind this yet other than the efforts to make the info pages look better, or more informational. However, there is a caveat and that may not let everyone use the feature. WhatsApp Cover Photo feature will be available only to WhatsApp Business users, that too only on the desktop client with the latest update. Hence, in order to have your Cover Photo, you will need to have your WhatsApp Business account and you will need to view it in desktop.
Note that WhatsApp Cover Photo feature has been around for a while for WhatsApp Business for iOS users. Those using the WhatsApp Business app in beta have been able to set up their own cover photos. The feature is yet to be finalised for WhatsApp Business on Android, and is currently in testing for WhatsApp Desktop client.
