Good, nay, great morning to y’all, and welcome to April’s last Whatcha Been Playing? Well, that month literally vanished in the blink of an eye, and with May comes the countdown to some of the year’s biggest releases, including Street Fighter 6, Diablo IV, and some little fella with a sword. I hope that the first third of the year has been kind to you. If it has been a rough ride, I feel you, it has been that way for a lot of us. But we can put that behind us, and roll into Act 2 full of pith and vinegar. I believe in you.
Stoked to see you here on this fine Saturday morn, and I’m already looking forward to reading through all of your comments this weekend. I hope that this Saturday/Sunday is a wicked one for you. Do something new, I dunno. Bake a pie. Do some chainsaw ice sculpture. Paint your neighbor’s house as a “surprise”. Pet a dog. Chainsaw your neighbor. Give a dog some pie. Whatever you do, make this weekend work for you, and have a fun one.
I’ve been taking something of a break from own-time gaming, prepping the brain and body for the wild tidal wave of titles that will hit over the next 10 or so weeks. I put some time into the Street Fighter 6 demo, squaring up against the notorious Level 8 difficulty setting while getting further to grips with the Drive System. Speaking of scrapping, I also spent a little time with Skullgirls, now that my favorite grenade launcher-toting flapper, Black Dahlia, is finally in the mix.
But perhaps most notably of all, I finally hit Platinum in the amazing Hades. You don’t have to 100% every last option in the game to reach Plat, but you still have to do a hell of a lot, including completing a run with at least a 16-level Pact of Punishment. Anyway. I have done almost everything
