Gooood morning and good weekend to you all, and welcome to Whatcha Been Playing? You find me at the end of a very painful week, unfortunately, as what was minor gout in one foot became Very Major gout in the other. To say I’m hurtin’ is something of an understatement, and the fever/chills it brings with it are equally as sucky. Fortunately, ’tis the weekend, and hopefully, I can use the next couple of days to rest up and keep popping this frankly frightening medicine (toxicity-wise) that has been prescribed for me.
But that’s just me, and I hope that you have had a very cheerful week, and that the coming weekend brings you plenty of excitement, happiness, and pleasure — Whether through the medium of video games or otherwise. Hope that you all have enjoyed our Zelda celebrations here on the site, and thanks to everybody who contributed, and to our own Eric van Allen for curating the whole shindig.
This week has been a particularly busy work week for yer pal Moyse. In between taking care of a few nagging bugs chewing away at the good ship, I’ve also had to write up a review for top-tier brawler Fight’n Rage, contribute a couple of pieces to Zelda Week, and dive into Tears of the Kingdom itself, a title which I fully admit I do not have the time, nor hard inclination for, but am required to experience purely due to its obvious importance in The Year of Gaming 2023.
I won’t deny that my interest in Zelda sort of petered out around the completion of Link’s Awakening and A Link to the Past. But that’s how it goes when you’re getting on in years, the time comes when you have to pick the franchises you have the days to dedicate toward, and mine mostly revolve around the throwing of fists.
