After years of pandemic-related delays, Barry season 3 is set to release — here's when it will premiere on HBO. Created by former Seinfeld writer Alec Berg and Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, the dark comedy follows a conflicted hitman-turned-actor. Barry stars Hader as the titular character Barry and Henry Winkler as Gene Cousineau, the director of the theater acting class Barry joins.
The series’ twisted humor and distinct visual style has made Barry a hit since its premiere in March 2018 with HBO subscribers and critics alike. Seasons 1 and 2 of Barry earned dozens of Emmy nominations and notably won two performance-related Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Hader) and one Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Winkler), among other technical awards. Hader has also earned praise for his directorial work behind season 2's more action-packed episodes like «ronny/lilly» and «berkman > block.»
