It might be strange to think of «Weird Al» Yankovic as one of the most successful recording artist of all time, but now his popular parody songs are being turned into a comic book, solidifying his place in geek culture. It's another big milestone coming this year for Yankovic, whose life story will be immortalized in a biopic starring Daniel Radcliffe that will be released this fall.
Weird Al got his start with popular parodies such as «Another One Rides the Bus» and «My Bologna,» which were making fun of «Another One Bites the Dust» in «My Sharona,» respectively. After that, Weird Al became a consistent presence in pop culture as he released album after album of parodies and original songs in his trademark polka style. Even more than that though, Weird Al has also embarked on a decades-long concert career, where he dresses up for every parody from Star Wars to Michael Jackson. To date he has recorded more than 150 parody songs and sold more than 12 million records.

Now Weird Al's classic hits are going to be immortalized on the page as they will be visualized by a wide array of comic creators. The book, titled The Illustrated Al: The Songs of “Weird Al” Yankovic, will be published by Z2 Comics. The twenty-plus songs in the book will feature work by Bill Plympton, Aaron Augenblick, Peter Bagge, Steve Chanks, Felipe Sobreiro, Gideon Kendall, Michael Kupperman, Wes Hargis, Ruben Bolling, Fred Harper, Ryan Dunlavey, R. Sikoryak, and more! Plus there will also be a forward by Emo Phils.
