Fans of Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset were disappointed to hear that the show was canceled after nine seasons, but Mercedes “MJ” Javid confirmed that she is working on a spin-off show with castmates Reza Farahan and Golnesa «GG» Gharachedaghi. News of theShahs of Sunset cancelation came on the heels of cast member Mike Shouhed’s arrest on alleged domestic violence charges in March. Although it’s unclear whether Mike’s legal issues had anything to do with the show being put on indefinite hold, there has been talk that Shahs of Sunset simply ran its course.
MJ, Reza and GG had a lot of history before their debuts in Shahs of Sunset season 1, and viewers watched them navigate the highs and lows of their friendship over the years. MJ and Reza, who have known each other since high school, experienced a huge rift in their friendship when MJ accused Reza’s husband, Adam Neely, of cheating on him. Reza retaliated by posting private information about MJ’s complicated birth of her and her husband Tommy Feight’s son. Incensed, Tommy vandalized Reza and Adam’s home, which prompted them to hit Reza with a restraining order.

MJ shared that she and Reza are in a much better place now. TheShahs of Sunset star revealed to Page Six that a new reality show is being planned with her and castmates Reza and GG. The new show will be a departure from the drama-filled Shahs of Sunset, and MJ confessed the experience with Reza and GG “felt amazing.” She added, “It’s very current. It felt like Modern Family where we have our kids, we’re like a blended family, there’s mended fences, putting our past behind us where it belongs.” Fans were disheartened to see MJ and Reza's friendship
