You Are Not My Mother is a new, coming-of-age horror movie written and directed by Kate Dolan in her feature film debut. The movie stars Carolyn Bracken, Ingrid Craigie, and Hazel Doupe and follows a mother-daughter tale plagued by supernatural entities and deadly events. It will have its home video and VOD release on June 21.
Game Rant was given the opportunity to debut a behind-the-scenes clip featuring scenes from You Are Not My Mother and narration by the cast and creators. «We started the casting process back in January and myself and Katie sat down and went: 'Who do we think would be the best people for this film?' And we immediately thought Hazel,» shares producer Deirdre Levins in the clip.

In another narration, the character of Char is described as «a 16-year-old girl who is attending school, and she has this strange relationship with her mom.» The voiceover continues, «Then her mom goes missing and comes back, and it's like this whole [new] world that Char is thrust into, and she has to navigate supernatural entities and battle between reality and fiction, and where she thinks they intertwine.»
The psychological thriller debuted to critical acclaim at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness selection where it won first runner-up to the body horror movie Titane.
