The mid-season update for Call of Duty Warzone Season 1 will improve the game’s performance on console platforms, developer Raven Software has said.
Warzone has suffered from various performance issues on PlayStation and Xbox consoles since the launch of its Pacific update and new map, Caldera, over a month ago.
Raven’s inability to address these technical problems has been heavily criticised by some of Warzone’s player base, but there have been mitigating circumstances. The studio’s work was disrupted by the holiday period and is currently being hampered by strike action.
This week, Raven’s quality assurance team and other Activision Blizzard employees commenced a fourth week of strikes in protest of plans to downsize the studio’s QA department.
The Warzone Pacific Season 1 mid-season update will be downloadable today at 9pm PT (January 13 at 12am ET / 5am GMT).
Ahead of its release, Raven said the update will deliver the first in a series of planned fixes for console performance issues.
“We’d like to provide an update regarding Warzone performance on console platforms,” it tweeted.
“With the mid-season patch tomorrow, we will be shipping initial fixes in order to help alleviate a number of different issues encountered on both Xbox and PlayStation.
“These fixes are the first in a series and will not address all concerns at once,” Raven added.
“We appreciate your patience as we work on providing everyone with a fun, uninterrupted time in Caldera.”
Raven said earlier this week that it was investigating a bug causing some Warzone skins to turn players invisible.
The mid-season update for Call of Duty Vanguard Season 1 was released on Tuesday, introducing an Attack on Titan crossover.
