Do you still use an older iPhone model? If yes, then you are in big trouble. Your iPhone might lose WhatsApp support soon. In effect, that means you will not be able to use WhatsApp on your iPhone. The Meta owned instant messaging platform is dropping its support from some of the VERY old iPhone models. WhatsApp will drop support for all those iPhones using iOS 10 and iOS 11 versions- the date is sometime in October 2022. Those who are using these older models that doesn’t support iOS 12 or above, will not be able to use WhatsApp after that. This means anyone using an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 5C will be blocked from accessing the messaging app after that. Also, there are many other iPhone models that are not on iOS 12 or later versions, they too are under threat, but they can escape by updating their phones.
However, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c cannot upgrade to the next available software update i.e, iOS 12 and higher. The report has been shared by WhatsApp development tracker WABetaInfo. They have even shared a screengrab of a popup reading, “"WhatsApp will stop supporting this version of iOS after 24 Oct 2022. Please go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update to get the latest iOS version." Anyone who is still using iOS 10 and iOS 11 on iPhones other than iPhone 5 and 5c, must update now if they want to continue using WhatsApp after the cut off day, which is October 24. These updates not only fix serious security bugs but it also brings some amazing new features.
