Valorant has reached a sizable community of players since its release in 2020. Unfortunately, the Valorant community has been shaken up in recent days as a player known on YouTube as SeLFlo died at age 23.
SeLFlo regularly posted videos to his YouTube channel since 2018, moving from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to Apex Legends and finally Valorant. The YouTuber eventually focused on Valorant content like Shroud before him because like the popular streamer, he became more skilled and focused on the game and made patch videos, challenges, funny montages, and more to an audience of nearly 31,000 subscribers. The Valorant player continued to reach more players through this medium, but on July 20 he left a message for his community in which he details a life of depression and the events that led to it, ultimately acting as his suicide note.
Police in Saidabad, India were notified that a man had ended his life by jumping from the top of a four-story building and his identity has since been confirmed as C. Dheena, known on YouTube as «SeLFlo.» The police are actively investigating the suicide, but much of the information may be included in a lengthy TwitLonger that SeLFlo shared on his Twitter before the ultimate decision to take his life. SeLFlo highlighted in his note that kept him from going through with suicide in the past were YouTube content like Red vs Blue, and creators like TSM_ImperialHal, KSI, Corridor Digital, Hidden Xperia who acted like role models through their videos and inspired him to make content of his own.
