Universal Studios Hollywood has offered a preview of the Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge ride at the Super Nintendo World theme park that's set to open sometime in 2023.
Super Nintendo World has faced numerous delays. Universal Studios and Nintendo originally planned to open the park in 2020, but then its debut slipped to 2021, and that was only at Universal Studios Japan. The park isn't expected to make its way to the US until early 2023.
The companies want people to stay hyped about Super Nintendo World coming stateside, though, which is why Universal Studios Hollywood shared a peek at the Mario Kart-themed ride:
"Ready to experience Mario Kart like never before?" Universal Studios says. "Put on the special goggles and battle Team Bowser on iconic Mario Kart courses alongside Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Collect coins and throw shells to win the Golden Cup on the world’s first interactive Mario Kart ride with cutting-edge technology at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD."
It's a shame the company doesn't specify what kind of shells riders will be throwing. Are we keeping things friendly with some green shells, getting a little competitive with a handful of red shells, or ruining friendships with a well-timed blue shell? We'll have to plan accordingly.
