Optimus Primal immediately gets to the point after swinging through the jungle in the latest trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The leader of the Maximals tells Optimus Prime that «darkness has found us again» after they've been in hiding for centuries.
But it's not just about the Maximals. «This is about the fate of all living things. Unicron is coming,» says Primal, voiced by Ron Perlman. The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts trailer--seen below--then highlights that this installment in the long-running franchise takes place in 1994 (though features the Ruff Ryders' Anthem by DMX, which didn't come out until 1998).
After setting the high stakes, the trailer introduces the film's human lead: Noah Diaz as portrayed by Anthony Ramos. It appears Diaz will form a relationship with Pete Davidson's Mirage early in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts after trying to take a spin in the Autobot's Porsche vehicle form. Mirage also later puts the Unicron threat into perspective by telling Diaz that «he eats planets.»
One of the other human leads in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is featured in this trailer, too. Dominique Fishback plays the artifact researcher Elena Wallace, who says in the teaser: «Maybe there's another way to save our home.»
The trailer finishes up by showcasing a gigantic battle between the Maximals and most likely Predacons, especially a few Scorponok-looking enemies. Cheetor and Rhinox run over more than a couple in their animal forms.
