The Umbrella Academy showrunner Steve Blackman teases a mystery that the show will plumb if it gets renewed for a season 4. The Umbrella Academy, which premiered its first season on Netflix in 2019, is based on the Dark Horse graphic novels of the same name by artist Gabriel Bá and writer Gerard Way, who is best known as the frontman for the band My Chemical Romance. The show follows a group of past-their-prime heroes who worked together as children while they reunite to save the world. It features an ensemble cast that includes Justin H. Min, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Elliot Page as Viktor Hargreeves.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 premiered on the streaming service on June 22, 2022. It followed the Umbrella crew as they returned to their own time after season 2's adventure in the 1960s, only to find themselves in a brand new timeline where the Umbrella Academy has been replaced by the supposedly superior Sparrow Academy. They quickly have to get back in action to once again prevent the end of the world.
