Metal Gear has always been a cinematic-heavy franchise, but that cutscene-filled gameplay really came into its own with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The first 15 minutes were more like a movie than a game, with credits rolling alongside dynamic camera angles showcasing Solid Snake’s descent onto a fog-covered container ship. It even got a James Bond movie-style intro.
That sort of homage to action films gained Metal Gear millions of fans around the world, including German developer and artist Erasmus Brosdau. You might remember Brosdau from a few years ago when he remade the first Metal Gear Solid intro in Unreal Engine 4. Now he’s back to remake the Metal Gear Solid 2 into in Unreal Engine 5. At this rate, he’ll hit Metal Gear Solid 3 by the time Unreal Engine 6 rolls around.

Brosdau isn't quite done, but he did share a five-second clip on Twitter showing Solid Snake's bungee jump onto the deck of the USS Discovery. In the game, Snake's optical camouflage fails upon impact in a shower of sparks. Brosdau's version seems to be lacking the same fireworks, but it's still very much a work in progress.
Hideo Kojima retweeted Brosdau's video, which is probably about as much approval as any Metal Gear fan could hope for.
