As if having two completely different answers wasn’t enough today’s Wordle is almost as bad, with a simple word that’s very hard to guess.
Wordle has already been in trouble with fans this week for having two completely different answers on the same day, a mistake everyone assumed would never happen again after the first time.
Today’s problem isn’t because of any mistake on the part of The New York Times but it is worth warning that the answer is extremely difficult, as it combines two of the biggest problems with Worlde: an answer with more than one letter the same and one that’s hard to guess even when you know four of the letters.
We won’t reveal what today’s answer is until after the advert below though, so if you don’t want to be spoiled don’t read any further.
Even though all Wordle answers are five-letter words there are still a lot of possible solutions that involve the same letter being repeated twice, but at the moment the game itself does nothing to indicate if that’s the case.
So that’s the first thing you’ve got to look out for in today’s answer. Type in the repeated letter in the wrong spot and it’ll light up yellow but get it in one of the right ones and it’ll turn green, with no indication that there’s also another one the same.
The other thing that makes today’s Wordle hard is that there are at least two other words that have four of the letters in the same position, with no way to know which it is without taking a guess.
If you’re stuck and don’t want to ruin your score streak then the answer is… LOWLY. Not a particularly obscure word but because of the way that Wordle works one that is peculiarly hard.
