TMNT’s Shredder Proved He’s a Better Villain Than Darth Vader
One of the worst villains the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtleshave ever faced has proven himself to be the baddest of the bad even when compared to other evil doers across the galaxy as Shredderproves he’s a better villain than Darth Vader. Darth Vader was the Emperor’s most ruthless warrior across the cosmos after the Empire took over, being responsible for the deaths of countless rogue Jedi and members of the Rebellion. However, while Darth Vader was a nearly unstoppable force of darkness during his reign of terror across the galaxy, he failed where Shredder succeeded.
In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles#23 by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, the Turtles are reeling after their defeat by the hands of the Shredder and his Foot Clan. In the previous issue, Shredder stabbed Casey Jones in the stomach, and while the Turtles rushed to take him to the hospital, other members of the Foot Clan kidnapped an unconscious Leonardo with the goal of converting the TMNT leader to a member of their evil ninja organization.

When the Shredder has Leonardo in his grasp, the villain turns him over to the shape-shifting witch known as Kitsune who is an integral member of the Foot Clan who uses her mystical powers to enter Leonardo’s mind. While in his mind, Kitsune acts on behalf of the Shredder and corrupts Leonardo from the inside, making him believe that Splinter and all of his teachings are evil while the Foot are actually good. The mind washing works and the Shredder succeeds in turning Leonardo to the dark side, a success that isn’t shared with Darth Vader.
