While there were some concerns about Thor: Love and Thunder and the depiction of its villain, the full reveal of Gorr the God Butcher has laid those fears to rest. One of the Son of Odin's deadliest foes in the comics, Gorr is a terrifying character who wields incredibly dangerous power capable of killing the gods themselves. Officially debuting in the first full Thor: Love and Thunder trailer played by Christian Bale, it looks as though the MCU's Gorr the God Butcher will be just as fearsome.
In the comics, Gorr the God Butcher was created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribić in 2015, serving as the primary antagonist for their Thor: God of Thunder run. Living in an extremely harsh environment, Gorr and his people heavily relied on their gods to protect them. However, the loss of Gorr's family results in a dark crisis of faith. Because his prayers to save his family went unanswered, Gorr concluded his gods must not exist. However, he would later find out that the gods were indeed real but had simply ignored his people's prayers. Coming into contact with a powerful weapon known as All-Black the Necrosword, Gorr gained the ability to punish his gods, murdering them all while vowing to kill every god in the universe.

While Gorr is much more exotic-looking in the comics, early images via toys and merchandise for Thor: Love and Thunder provided an initial look at the villain wearing white robes instead of black. He also looks much more human.
