Thor: Love & Thunder's first official teaser trailer confirms that Marvel Studios is avoiding a major mistake when tackling Fat Thor after the events of Avengers: Endgame. A first look at the much-anticipated MCU film has finally arrived, revealing certain parts of its story without giving too much away. Despite the movie having quite a large cast, Thor: Love & Thunder's trailer puts the focus primarily on Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder as he attempts to move forward from what happened during the Infinity Saga.
Thor has had a tumultuous journey throughout the MCU. In Thor: Ragnarok, he not only watched Asgard's destruction but also had to kill his sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), to save his people. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos (Josh Brolin) ruthlessly murdered Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Heimdall (Idris Elba), his only remaining family. Thor's quest for revenge motivated him throughout the film, but when he failed to stop the Titan from snapping away half the universe's population, and subsequently realized there was no way to reverse the decimation in Avengers: Endgame, it sent Thor into a deep depression that caused him to fully check out of his superhero responsibilities. Thor’s poor mental well-being also manifested in his physical health, resulting in the moniker «Fat Thor».

The introduction of Fat Thor in Avengers: Endgame was met with backlash, and was one of the few creative choices in the movie that many had a problem with.
