Thor: Love and Thunder’s classic Marvel Comics Easter egg continues one of the best trends created by MCU Phase 4. In the first few seconds of the trailer, Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder was seen wearing a comic book accurate Thor costume. It was the first time that particular suit has been spotted in any MCU material.
Marvel’s Thor and Avengers movie have of course done their own versions of Thor’s costume, but his original suit in its entirety has always been avoided. The winged helmet has been featured but never has it been a part of his main look, and the movies have always leaned toward much darker colors for his armor. The MCU completely ditched the yellow and black boots, the gold belt, and the royal blue pants from his original comic book design from the Silver Age of Marvel Comics. Surprisingly, Marvel included each and every aspect of this look into Thor: Love and Thunder. A scene of Thor running through a forest confirms that the costume will be MCU canon when the Avenger returns to the big screen.

Regardless of how the Silver Age suit fits into the movie or how relevant it’ll be to Thor: Love and Thunder’s story, the Easter egg represents one of Phase 4’s best ideas. The shows and movies in Marvel’s Phase 4 lineup have managed to introduce the classic outfits of several major characters from the comic books, including Scarlet Witch, Vision, Quicksilver, and Loki.
