It’s been a busy week across a bunch of different Pokemon games this week. Of course, as one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, it’s going to be affected by the 3DS and Wii U eShop being taken down. However, this might actually be beneficial to fans.

But we open our Pokemon round-up on some breaking news we got in earlier today: Detective Pikachu 2 still exists.
It’s been so long since we were told a Detective Pikachu sequel was on the way (no, not the film, unfortunately), that many of us abandoned any hope of seeing one. However, a recent job listing reveals that the game is quietly in development. The recruitment information doesn’t tell us much about the game, but it does reveal that the development team is interested in using “new technologies” for the graphics, so we could finally see a Pokemon game that better resembles other modern RPGs.
In perhaps the most bizarre Pokemon news of the week, Bing appears to have something against Pokemon info site, Serebii. If you’re wondering why on earth this would have happened, not even the site’s owner knows. He received no notice of the removal, and only noticed when redirects from Bing suddenly hit zero. At the time of writing, it has now returned - but there’s still no word on why this happened in the first place.
Nintendo closing the 3DS and Wii U’s eShop really, really sucks. However, there is one kinda good thing to come out of it: Pokemon Bank will be completely free to use. Right now, it’s a $4.99 subscription, and some worried that being unable to pay for it would mean we’d be locked out from our Pokemon. But Nintendo foresaw this at least, and is instead just making it free for anyone who has it downloaded when the store is
