This Way Up star Aisling Bea has been cast as Rachel in Greatest Days, an upcoming jukebox musical film featuring the work of pop group Take That. The film is based on The Band, a stage musical that opened in London’s West End in 2018. It tells the story of a group of friends who reunite 25 years after sharing a life-changing experience at a concert they attended as teenagers. The film will be directed by How To Build A Girl’s Coky Giedroyc.
In a backstage interview with NME at the NME Awards, Bea revealed that she has been cast in the film. She said that she felt it was relevant to reveal this casting at the NME awards and briefly mused on the similarities between comedy and music. At the time of the interview, Bea had just received the NME award for Best Actor for playing Aine in This Way Up, which she also wrote. The full interview can be seen below.

The film was announced in 2020 by producer Danny Perkins, who described it as being nostalgic and said that Take That was very much involved with the project. It has also been said that Take That is in talks to write a new song for the film’s soundtrack. Rosamund Pike and Ruth Wilson are rumored to be appearing in the film. Aisling Bea can currently be seen in This Way Up on Hulu. She recently appeared in Home Sweet Home Alone on Disney + and in the most recent Doctor Who New Year’s Special, “Eve of The Daleks.”
