Warning: Spoilers for X-Men: Hellfire Gala 2022 ahead
The X-Men's greatest villain in modern times, their former ally and co-founder of Krakoa Moira MacTaggart, just crashed the mutants Hellfire Gala just to tell her son Proteus that she never loved him. Moira, now in her new evil cyborg form, is wildly manipulative so she almost certainly came to the Gala for more than just her son, but her unabashed cruelty just elevated her to becoming the worst mother in Marvel Comics.
Honestly, becoming the worst mother in Marvel Comics is a pretty impressive feat, seeing as there are scores of other horribly mothers like Mystique, who literally tried to kill Nightcrawler as a baby, or the Runaway's parents as the evil collective The Pride. Yet ever since Jonathan Hickman's House of X/Powers of X it has slowly become clearer and clearer that Moira's former mutant power of restarting her life has made her top that list by a wide margin.

Ever since Inferno, Moira X has been on a one-woman crusade to tear down the nation of Krakoa and destroy mutantkind. In doing so she has now partnered with not only Orchis, but she is also now siding with Druig of the Eternals as he attempted to wipe out the mutants in the upcoming A.X.E.: Judgment Day event. Moira's biological son Proteus, a complex mutant born of Moira's marriage to a heavily abusive man, was a major villain throughout much of the late 70s and 80s, a powerful being with reality manipulation and possession powers who Moira kept locked in a cage «for his own good» for much of his life.
