The upcoming Saints Row reboot is only a week away, giving fans a new, zany adventure to explore in the long-dormant series. With Volition and Deep Silver at the head of the reboot and looking to go in a different direction story-wise this time around, a new story trailer has just been released, giving players a deeper look into the criminal tale the game will drop players in when they load up Saints Row.
Despite there only being four entries and a standalone title, the Saints Row series has had a storied history in gaming. Starting off as a Grand Theft Auto clone, the series evolved over time to become an over-the-top open-world adventure by the time Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV were released, giving players superpowers and throwing in aliens for good measure. With the series becoming so massive in scope, a reboot seemed to be the only option for Deep Silver, with Saints Row looking to focus on a more grounded approach to criminal empire building.

The newest trailer focuses on going back to the basics as the new ensemble of protagonists looks to start from the bottom of the criminal underworld with aspirations of reaching peak criminal enterprise. Despite fellow gang member Kevin sharing his fears on the topic, creativity is the name of the game this time around, as growing a criminal empire doesn't come solely from robbing banks. In order to stand out, the gang must become their own boss and react accordingly to the obstacles that stand in their way with the trailer highlighting the many foes players will encounter.
