The Pokemon Company has announced that its “pop-up” retail outlet The Pokemon Center will be returning to London next month, offering UK visitors the opportunity to once again roll out the dough for a gaggle of exclusive, limited-time merchandise themed around the popular gaming brand.
Pokemon Center London made its debut back in the fall of 2019, where it notoriously drew ridiculous queues of up to five hours as eager fans stood in line to buy Pikachu dressed as a little city gent. The furor led to all sorts of stock shortages and daily rule changes for the retailer, as it struggled to cope with the unending pressure from both Londoners and visitors traveling to the capital specifically for the cause. In total, some 30,000 customers shopped at the store within its four-week opening period.
The store was set to return in 2020 but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The new Pokemon Center London is being established in conjunction with the Pokémon World Championships, which are being held at London’s ExCel Centre between August 17-21. According to a new tweet, the outlet will feature merchandise, photo opportunities, and themed areas. Predicting a rush, the store will operate advanced visitor bookings, as well as a virtual queueing system. Given that the outlet is open for a mere weekend, it is incredibly likely that it will be an unprecedented success.
