To coincide with the second anniversary of The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, developer Skydance Interactive announced that it is creating a new chapter for its VR survival horror game. Chapter 2: Retribution will let players continue their adventures as The Tourist as they fight their way through a zombie apocalypse-infested New Orleans.
Since its launch in 2020, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners has seen two major updates that expanded its 20+ hour campaign. There was the wave-based horde mode called "The Trial" that gave players points to buy upgrades and weapons, while "Aftershocks," the most recent of the two updates, allowed players to focus on endgame missions. In the two years post-launch, the open-world VR survival horror game has made $60 million in revenue, so a continuation for a game deemed as both a critical and commercial success is not a surprise.

Chapter 2: Retribution isn't a full sequel to the original but instead a stand-alone follow-up expansion that can be played separately from the original game. It will take place right after the events of the first game. While additional details about this next chapter are scarce at the moment, the studio said in a press release that players will run into new characters, face brand-new threats, and will be forced to make "gut-wrenching" decisions that will impact their fate in the game. Skydance also promised that this new Walking Dead chapter would be “even more intense and gruesome.”
