The crossover event in which the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles not only met, but fought against Batman was one of the most epic moments in comic book history, though one comic suggests that it was a bit derivative as the Turtles actually battled their very own ‘Batman’ long before facing off against the Dark Knight.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first crossed paths with DC’s Batman in Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 by James Tynion IV and Freddie E. Williams II. In that story arc, Ra's al Ghul has teamed up with the Shredder in a villainous plot that meant trouble for not just the residents of Gotham or New York, but for the entire world. Using Shredder’s mutant-creating serum, many of Batman’s rogues became gnarly, animalistic versions of themselves which only added to the looming threat of Shredder and Ra’s. Before the Ninja Turtles teamed up with Batman, the Heroes in a Half-Shell had no idea who the Caped Crusader was and launched a strike against him on sight. While their battle was undeniably epic, it was something that had evidently already been done.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cereal Comics #2 by Peter Laird, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael are on a mission to save Casey Jones who had been kidnapped by the Shredder. The Shredder meant to turn Casey into a mutant by combining his DNA with that of a squid through the use of his mutagen ooze. However, the Turtles show up just in time to stop the evil Shredder, but before they can take the villain down, they are faced with a number of his mutant henchmen who are just as strong as they are and infinitely more wicked.
