Reports about The Suicide Squad's next spin-off are exciting, but the show could face a huge villain problem. The new show may see the return of Viola Davis' Amanda Waller, who will take center stage as the series' protagonist. Waller has served as a major antagonist in every property she has appeared in throughout the DCEU. Because of this, it poses a major obstacle for her show to overcome.
Throughout the DCEU, The Suicide Squad's Amanda Waller has made completing her mission assignments a top priority, even if that comes at the cost of innocent lives or her fellow acquaintances. This is evident when she guns down her staff to cover up loose ends, decides to let Corto Maltese be demolished by Starro, and uses her daughter, Peacemaker's Leota Adebayo, to pin Project Butterfly on Peacemaker and Vigilante. Despite her claims that she is doing all this for the greater good, her villainous actions and lack of remorse serve to make her a thoroughly contemptible character. Said contempt poses a huge challenge for the spinoff show, but one that could be potentially solved.

The Suicide Squad's Amanda Waller spin-off's biggest challenge is making her a protagonist who viewers can easily root for. Given that both Suicide Squad movies, as well as the Peacemaker show, have positioned her as an unrepentant villain, it's not going to be easy. That being said, if James Gunn is involved, he could find a way to make it work since he managed to improve Peacemaker after The Suicide Squad.
