Two of the free monthly games from the PlayStation Plus Essentials November 2023 line up have been announced by Sony with Aliens: Fireteam Elite leading the way for some online co-op alien blasting!
As always there are three games on offer through the month, available from the first Tuesday, 7th November.
PS4 games playable on PS5 via backward compatibility.
What are these games like, then?
Aliens: Fireteam Elite takes James Cameron’s action-packed sci-fi sequel and morphs it into a co-op shooter, somewhat in the vein of Left 4 Dead. It was a little bit of a mixed bag at launch, with Nic saying in our review, “Aliens: Fireteam Elite has a lack of mission variety, technical issues, bad matchmaking, and a repetitive structure. All of that said, it’s still a fun time. I’m off to play some more right now.”
Mafia II: Definitive Edition, meanwhile, is less exciting. This was the odd one out from the Definitive Edition releases of the Mafia trilogy in 2020, for which the original game had a full remake within the Mafia III engine. Mafia II: Definitive Edition is a mere remaster using the old game engine. It’s still a cult classic open world action game, but that’s still a bit of a duff note. At least it’s not the final game, though.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers takes the long-running anime and manga as inspiration for an asymmetrical multiplayer game in the vein of Dead by Daylight, Evil Dead and plenty others.
