Psychosis is a dangerous mental state you may run into when you play this game, as it can potentially kill your character. You will begin to hallucinate and may be followed by the Skinner Man, with rather unpleasant consequences. However, this state is not irreversible and can be cured. Here's how.
Psychosis is a negative mental state which can occur in The Outlast Trials. When affected by psychosis, you will experience hallucinations in the game, and a sinister enemy called the Skinner Man will start following and haunting you. You cannot hide from him; he will follow you even through walls. If he catches you, he will inevitably drain your health.
You can lose your sanity and get psychosis by inhaling noxious green gas, which can happen in several ways. This gas can leak from landmines, as they are randomly placed throughout every map. If you step near them, you will activate their effect. This can also happen if you trigger other traps in the game, usually placed near locked doors and boxes.
Moreover, your character will inhale this poisonous gas if you fail to get the proper timings on lockboxes. An enemy called the Pusher can also spray you with this gas if he catches you. He wears a gas mask, so you can easily recognize him and try to escape and hide. You’ll know he’s coming because an alarm will consistently be reproduced when he exits the metal doors and enters the trial zone.
Fortunately, Psychosis is not permanent in The Outlast Trials and can be cured. You can do this in different ways. The first and most straightforward is to use an antidote. It will restore all your sanity
